Initial difficulties
The biggest challenge of organic coconut cultivation is to persuade the farmers to cultivate coconut in a traditional way to the modern way. In the past, most farmers used a lot of chemical drugs to stimulate coconut fruit and prevent pests. The use of chemical fertilizers is also common. This greatly affects the nutritional value of the coconut. In addition, when the natural conditions change, a series of coconut trees will not be able to fight the disease. It's like being drug resistant when using too much antibiotics.
The transition from traditional to new ways also needs a certain process. When the coconut trees are accustomed to not being protected from the outside, they will produce their own internal disease prevention mechanisms.

The area of organic coconut gardens has expanded greatly. From the area of 120.6 ha in Hung Le commune, Giong Trom district, Ben Tre province by the end of 2015, this area has increased to 1,500 ha in 2018. By the end of 2020, Betrimex will have a coconut material area of 10,000 hectares.
